A
"Green"
Way of
Learning!
Twelve
people from
across the
Church and a
leader in
Arizona
gather for a
live class
one evening
-- sitting
in their own
homes or
offices, on
the
telephone
for one
hour.
A truly
"green"
way of
learning!
That's the
reality of a
class this
past week
led by
Phyllis
Strupp on
"How to
'Green' Your
Congregation."
Fabulous
resources
downloadable
before the
class; a
live
presentation
of material
from an
experienced
ministry
leader; a
chance to
ask
questions;
the building
of
connections
among
participants....
An hour that
passed all
too quickly!
Comments
from
participants:
It
was fine.
I love
being able
to attend
a class
from the
comfort of
my
home!....The
agenda was
great!
(Diocese
of New
Jersey)
[What
worked]:
The energy
and
enthusiasm
of the
leader,
and the
idea of
connecting
with other
like-minded
individuals....[I]
liked the
emphasis
on
changing
people's
hearts and
on the
hunger
people are
feeling
for care
of
creation.
(Diocese
of
Alabama)
I
appreciated
Phyllis
sharing
some of
her own
story with
us, moving
from
spirit to
action....I
also liked
the more
"hands-on"
suggestions
from other
participants...
(Diocese
of
Nebraska)
It was
great to
hear some
of the
positive
aspects
that
Phyllis
has
experienced
and
recommended.
Really
appreciated
the
spiritual
aspects
woven in.
(Diocese
of
Spokane)

these
distractions
in depth and

Adult
education
seems to
be the
deficiency
in our
congregations
that will
not go
away.
We can do
better
than this.
I believe
that we
can
co-create,
with God,
a way of
gathering
adults
that
sustains
us all,
and gives us
strength
for the journey
of our
lives.
This
course
will walk
through
five
general
areas that
need to be
considered
in order
to succeed
in this
ever-shifting
area of
ministry....

All
too often
communication
is
considered
an
afterthought
to a
project or
something
extra to
do if a
congregation
has money
to spare
(ha). This
class will
explore
why
communication
should play
a critical
role in
the
planning
stages of
every
ministry
or
program.
It will
help you
develop a
communications
plan that
can inform
and assist
in
ministry
and
program
decisions.
A good
communications
plan
really is
about
having a
good plan
for
ministry.
After all,
sharing --
communicating
-- the
Good News
of Jesus
should be
our
focus.....
